Task Force on Rules for Technical Description of Digital Media

Charge

The Task Force on Rules for Technical Description of Digital Media is charged to propose revisions to the rules for technical description of digital media in the draft of Part 1 of AACR3.

The Task Force is particularly asked to examine:

1. the rules for Digital Graphic Representation (B3.3E),
2. the rules for Other Digital Characteristics (C7.5C13), and
3. the rules for notes for digital media (C7.7B)

The Task Force should consult other standards for descriptive metadata in order to determine what data elements are important for the technical description of digital media.

Comments and recommendations relating to examples in the draft of Part 1 of AACR3 should be submitted directly to the JSC AACR3 Examples Working Group.

The Task Force will present a report containing its recommendation rule revisions to CC:DA for discussion at the 2005 ALA Annual Conference.
