Charge

Revised Charge

Having completed its original charge, the Task Force on the Review of Revising AACR2 to Accommodate Seriality: Rule Revision Proposals is charged with reviewing the JSC document (4JSC/Chair/68/Chair follow-up/2/LC response/LC rep response) consisting of the “clean copy” of the revisions of Chapter 12 and related rules that were decided upon at the September 2000 JSC meeting in London, England as well as other related documents (e.g. other constituent responses). The Task Force will prepare a report for CC:DA that will form the basis of the ALA response to the aforementioned documents. The report shall be sent to the Chair of CC:DA no later than March 1, 2001.

Original Charge

The Task Force on the Review of Revising AACR2 to Accommodate Seriality: Rule Revision Proposals is charged with preparing a detailed review of the proposals contained in 4JSC/Chair/68/Chair follow-up/2 for submission to and consideration by the Joint Steering Committee for Revision of Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules.

The Task Force should assess the degree to which the rule proposals are in accord with the decisions taken by the Joint Steering Committee on the recommendations in the report Revising AACR2 to Accommodate Seriality (4JSC/Chair/68). These decisions are outlined in the JSC minutes for its October 1999 meeting (4JSC/M/292-326).

The Task Force should examine the degree to which chapter 9 references are accurate and should identify significant differences and conflicts between chapters 9 and 12 and suggest possible resolutions for these differences and conflicts.

If it wishes to do so, the Task Force may comment on how these proposed rules may be affected by upcoming efforts at harmonization between ISSN and ISBD(S), taking into account possible future developments such as the ISST (International Standard Serial Title), changes in the basis for the bibliographic description, change in what constitutes major/minor changes, etc.

The final report of the Task Force shall be sent to the Chair of CC:DA no later than July 31, 2000.
