Proposal No. 2002-01:
Definition of Subfield $u (URI) in Field 670 (Source Data Found) in the MARC 21 Authority Format
Related MARBI Documents: 98-13 (June 1998) Source: Library of Congress Summary: Proposes the definition of a subfield $u in field 670 to provide a link to information accessed electronically that provides a reference source for an authority record. MARBI Action Taken: Approved. |

Proposal No. 2002-02:
Definition of Subfield $u, $y and $3 in Fields 508 and 511 of the MARC 21 Bibliographic Format
Related MARBI Documents: 99-08 (May 1999); 2000-06 (January 2000); 2000-07 (June 2000); 2001-07 (June 2001) Source: Research Libraries Group Summary: Proposes defining subfields $u, $y and $3 in field 508 and subfields $u and $3 in field 511 to provide remote access to complete lists of credit notes and to allow grouping of credit notes to be specific to a particular part of a multipart item. MARBI Action Taken: Rejected. There was little enthusiasm and even some slight opposition expressed by OLAC and MLA. |

Expanding Field 046 for Other Dates in the MARC 21 Bibliographic Format

MARBI Action Taken: Approved with amendments: add a $3; break "date created" into two subfields: created starting date and created ending date. |

Definition of $p (Number of pieces per issuance) in Fields 853-855 of MARC 21 Holdings Format
Related MARBI Documents: 2001-DP09 (June 2001) Source: CONSER Task Force on Publication Patterns and Holdings Summary: Proposes a new subfield $p to cover cases where multi-part titles are issued in a specified frequency. Allows for coding for both when to expect an issue ($w - issuing frequency) and how many pieces per issue are expected. MARBI Action Taken: Approved. |

Expansion of Regularity Pattern Coding in Fields 853-855 Subfield $y in the MARC 21 Holdings Format

These changes accommodate regularity of a publication pattern when it is expressed in enumeration as well as provide a means to designate combinations or ranges of enumeration and/or chronology. MARBI Action Taken: Approved. |

Changes in Field 008 in the MARC 21 Holdings Format

Also proposes to rename field 008/08 to "Subscription End Date." MARBI Action Taken: Tabled for further revisions. |

Encoding Variable Length Coordinate Formats in Field 034 (Coded Cartographic Mathematical Data) in the MARC 21 Bibliographic Format
