Action List

1. Heard the report of the ALA Representative to JSC, Brian Schottlaender. CC:DA reaffirmed its support for 4JSC/LC/37 (more than one series statement) and 4JSC/LC/45 (not all parts in a series). The committee reviewed and acted on the responses to 4JSC/ALA/27 and referred several items in the responses to the Task Force on the Harmonization of ISBD(ER) and AACR2. Proposals for revisions to the rules for titles of nobility and British terms of honor that were submitted by the British Library (4JSC/BL/1-6) were endorsed in principle by CC:DA. CC:DA did not support 4JSC/BL/3 and 4JSC/BL/4 (revisions to 22.12 and 22.16 respectively) but proposed instead streamlining and reordering the rules affected by these proposals.
2. Heard reports from the chairs of the Task Force on Metadata (Mary Larsgaard), the Task Force on the Review of AMIM (Adam Schiff), the Task Force on the Harmonization of ISBD(ER) and AACR2 (Lynne Howarth), and the Task Force on Rule 0.24 (Martha Yee).
3. Voted to form a separate task force to prepare the CC:DA response to the key issues and recommendations in the Delsey analysis.
4. Voted to extend the deadline for the submission of the final report of the Task Force on the Harmonization of ISBD(ER) and AACR2 until Annual.
5. Received an update from Jean Hirons on the CONSER “seriality” analysis.
6. Heard reports from the LC Representative (Bob Ewald), the MARBI Representative (Mark Watson).
7. Heard reports on the IFLA Conference in Amsterdam (Glenn Patton) and the publication of the joint CCS/CC:DA preconference “What in the World ... Cataloging on an International Scale” (Daniel Kinney).
8. Heard a report from Martha Yee on the draft IFLA Guidelines for OPAC Displays and voted to form a task force to review the guidelines.
